PrésentationThe french born Chinese artist, was born in 1951, in Shanghai. From an early age, he learnt from the greatest contemporary Chinese artists : Liu Hai-Su, Ling Feng-Mian and Yan Wen-Liang. Following these 3 masters'recommendation, he settled in France in 1981 for studying painting in Europe and joined Zao wou-Ki's workshop.
In March 1983, he organized his first exhibition of Chinese Inkwash paintings entitled: "Beethoven's symphonies". Christian Lu, went on a "retreat", which lasted 30 years. He delved into the study of colors; a meditation around the different artistic movements which will lead him to unfold a series of artworks that resonates with lyrical abstraction. As an heir to the landscape calligraphy artists from the Song dynasty and to the masters of color in oil paintings from the Western world, Christian Lu hopes to contribute to cultural and artistic exchanges, where pictorial and poetic art form a common language for the entire human race.
Over the past decade, he has come back to the forefront of the art scene, and participated in several exhibition in Paris.
In 2016, the National Museum of China in Beijing dedicated to Christian Lu a solo exhibition "From the East to the West". The museum kept two artworks.
He had the honor to accompany the French president Emmanuel Macron in China for his first official visit in China in 2018: one of the artist's painting has been offered to China in the name of France. In 2019, the 13th National Exhibition of Fine Arts in China selected one of the paintings of the artist.
In 2022, Christian Lu made a donation (ink wash painting) to the Fondation Claude Pompidou for its auction. The collected sum will be dedicated to the construction of a medical and educational institute for taking care of children diagnosed with autistic disorders. |
