Presentation of Continua

A CONTEMPORARY ART GALLERY IN THE HEART OF TUSCANY

At the initiative of three friends : Mario Cristiani, Lorenzo Fiaschi and Maurizio Rigillo, Galleria Continua was created in 1990 in San Gimignano. Located in a former theatre and cinema, Galleria Continua was born in an unexpected place : San Gimignano (Tuscany). This atypical location which can be local or global enables new dialogues and synergies between the art of yesterday and the art of today.
Galleria Continua has the desire to maintain a continuity between generations, the wish to compose a story responsive to the contemporary creation which nourishes the bond of the past and the future. Hence, during the past 20 years, through encounters and experiences, the gallery has built a strong identity of generous and altruistic values which became the foundation of artistic collaborations with confirmed and emerging artists, as well as the foundation of its relation to the public and its development.

A PIONEERING GALLERY IN CHINA

Galleria Continua was one of the first non Chinese galleries to establish in China in 2004. The site chosen in Beijing was the 798 Art District, and the aim was to promote international contemporary art where it was primarily absent and to establish uncommon exchanges and dialogues. Its interest for the country began thanks to the deep friendship with the artist Chen Zhen and his wife Xu Min. The motivation to build bridges with the country and its culture grew stronger with other encounters, initiating dialogue and correspondence.
A space of 1, 000 m2, situated in the industrial 798 Art District, a former industrial weaponry factory, welcomes artists. Galleria Continua's contribution helped to sustain and develop the district into becoming one of the most important artistic districts in the world.

A NEW ADVENTURE IN FRANCE

In October 2007, Galleria Continua inaugurated this peculiar site for contemporary creation in the Parisian countryside. Guided by the rhythm of the seasons, Le Moulin hosts many times a year projects and exhibitions of monumental art works by artists from the five continents.
Renovated, the site, a former factory of 10, 000 m2 embraces its new artistic life with, during its first two years of activity, already 18, 000 visitors. A new cultural wave sweeps over the department creating a strong new interest, energy and identity around Le Moulin. A curiosity and excitment is particularly engaged and perceived by the local inhabitants, as well as Parisians and the international art scene. The site, as well as having commercial preoccupations, also turns itself towards the public and its desires.
